To address the fast moving nature of technology, Ivy Tech has designed the innovative and comprehensive School of Information Technology

This school is committed to offering courses that respond to current and future industry demands. 

Careers in these fields continue to show promising growth and opportunities for students interested in pursuing a two-year degree and joining the workforce, transferring to a four-year institution, or even preparing for industry certifications. 

Ivy Tech’s School of Information Technology programs were funded by 92%, or $2,284,018 of U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration TAACCCT Grant funds.

Program Highlights

  • The cloud Associate of Applied Science provides the most comprehensive cloud credential in the program. Learners will take general education courses, such as public speaking and communication as well as exposure to cybersecurity, scripting and other tech electives that round out the cloud education journey. This program is for all levels, from the first generation college student, the IT novice to the IT professional.

  • The Associate of Science is a transfer degree intended to allow students to use a substantial number of credits earned to a program of study at a college or university toward a bachelor's degree. This degree will prepare students to continue their studies in Computer Science that will prepare them for careers in such areas as Computer Science and Software Engineering. This area of study focuses on deep concepts in algorithm development which includes intensive work in mathematics and scientific research. Graduates of a four-year degree program are typically well-qualified to work in the biotechnology, aerospace, chemical, and gaming industries as computer scientists and software engineers.

  • Ivy Tech Community College created the Center for Cyber Security to meet the demands for high-quality cyber security education and training. Through our nationally recognized center, Ivy Tech students receive the education and training they need for jobs that secure our community, state and nation's computers, networks and critical infrastructure.

  • The data analytics program pre- pares students for this fast growing field which requires skills in organization, storage, integration, retrieval, and analysis of data. They are trained in database designing, building, managing, system troubleshooting, and report generation.

  • The field of informatics dynamically infuses information science and technology into the lives of people at work and play. It involves studying how people interact with computers to increase productivity and enhance communication. Students will learn to critically analyze approaches to processing information and develop skills to design, implement, and evaluate the next generation of information technology tools.

  • The ITSP program teaches students the knowledge and skills needed to build and maintain computing systems and their technology. It is designed to prepare students for a professional career in the computer technology field.

  • The Network Infrastructure (NETI) program develops and refines knowledge and practical skills in the design, installation, configuration, and secure administration of digital networks. NETI students work with industry-standard networking equipment and components, from routers and switches down to cabling, connectivity, and mounting.

  • The software development pro- gram prepares students to develop, test and maintain the software applications that people use every day with their computers and other technical devices. This program prepares students to start a career in the fast changing world of information technology with practical knowledge and skills for an entry-level position in software development.

  • Visual communications students learn to communicate messages, emotions, and ideas through the use of images and words. Students gain experience with computer illustration, design, interactivity and photography. Visual communications courses emphasize both the technical and aesthetic aspects of good design. Students also have the opportunity to participate in field study to experience first-hand the daily operations and organizations of a successful studio.  Students also develop an exit portfolio which they present verbally to a jury.
