Ivy Tech graduates the highest number of associate-level nurses in the nation
Students in the nursing program at Ivy Tech gain valuable skills and experiences by caring for real patients in a variety of clinical settings including lab simulations. The growing use of simulations in nursing schools allows students to assume roles that are typically unavailable in a clinical setting, allowing students to make critical choices and see the results of those decisions.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is an integral part of the health care team. The Technical Certificate in Practical Nursing can be earned on the way to acquiring the Associate of Applied Science degree. Many available jobs require this certificate. This program provides education in conceptual and technical skills in preparation for the role of a Licensed Practical Nurse. Curriculum is designed to develop competency in the comprehension of general and technical nursing skills and concepts. The Practical Nursing program leads to a Technical Certificate that can be completed in one year.
The certificate in Pre-Nursing Studies leads to certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Short-term certificates are sequences of technical and professional courses that are industry focused and designed for work- force preparation. They provide access to targeted, short-term training in a discipline, and completers may sit for specific certification exams. Courses in certificate programs also apply toward technical certificates and associate degree programs in Nursing.
