Lafayette IvyCares Resources

Support to Help You Succeed

IvyCares is here to assist you with finding additional campus and community support throughout your academic journey. Sometimes called “wraparound services,” IvyCares focuses on helping students connect with resources in the following areas: emergency transportation assistance, food security, mental health resources, technology assistance, and emergency aid funding.

Available Services

Areas Where IvyCares Can Help You!

  • The Ivy Tech Student Emergency Aid Fund is here to help if you’re facing a sudden, short-term financial emergency that could affect your ability to stay in class and persist in your classwork. Funding is not guaranteed; however, if your request is approved, certain disbursements may require 7–10 days for processing, so try to apply as soon as possible. This fund is intended for true emergencies and unexpected expenses. Click here to access the Student Emergency Aid Application

  • Access to technology is one of the most important aspects of college life. Ivy Tech understands that securing a laptop may be difficult or impossible for some students, so we offer the IvyCares Loaner Laptop program. This program is available to currently enrolled students at the Lafayette campus while supplies last. These laptops are meant to be a temporary solution for students until they can purchase their own laptop or make other arrangements to secure a laptop for use with schoolwork.  As such, they must be returned at the end of each semester.

Additionally, we have a very limited supply of hotspots available to students who do not have access to internet at home.

Please email Amy Habegger at ahabegger5@ivytech.edu to request a laptop or hotspot.

  • Everyone needs help from time to time. We know that overall wellness, including good mental health, is key to being a successful student. That’s why we have no cost counseling services available to you as an Ivy Tech-Lafayette student. Contact Stephanie Smith at ssmith1749@ivytech.edu for more information or to make an appointment.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis, you can call or text 988 from anywhere in Indiana 24/7.

  • We understand that lack of transportation can be a barrier, so we have partnered with CityBus to provide FREE rides to all Ivy Tech-Lafayette students, faculty, and staff.  You MUST show a VALID Ivy Tech ID Card to utilize the free transportation.  Student IDs are available during normal business hours at the Reception Desk located in the Grand Hall.  Students must bring a state-issued Driver’s License or ID and their C# to receive an Ivy Tech Student ID.

  • The Wolf Pack Pantry is a FREE resource available to Ivy Tech students in the Lafayette region. The pantry is available during the Center for Student Success Suites' operating hours.  The pantry inventory is always changing and relies heavily on donations.  No items are ever guaranteed to be in stock.

  • The Office of Disability Support Services (DSS) assists students who qualify for reasonable accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. Reasonable accommodations may be granted, based upon verification with appropriate documentation.  If you think you may qualify or are unsure, please reach out to Whitney Collett at wcollett@ivytech.edu.

  • The Wellness Center is located on the second floor of Ivy Hall in Room 2317.  Equipment includes treadmills, elliptical machines, spinning & upright bikes, weight machines, jump ropes, lockers, and showers.  The center is available to students and employees of the college only.  Students can purchase a semester membership by paying a $20 fee at the Cashier’s Window in the Enrollment Center on the first floor of Ivy Hall.  Take the receipt to the Information Desk in the Grand Hall and receive a key card that allows access to the Shook Wellness Center.  Students must pay a $20 fee each fall, spring, and summer semester to maintain access.

  • Ivy Tech Lafayette has partnered with local businesses to offer discounts to our students and employees.  Please share your valid Ivy Tech ID to receive the discount. Click on www.tinyurl.com/itccpreferredpartners to view our current partners and discounts they offer.

  • Students can find computers, printing stations, Zoom stations, and study carrels to assist them with their studies.  The first floor of Gipe Hall is the Library, where you can find research assistance, group study rooms, book checkout, and Ask-a-Librarian services.  The second floor houses the Learning Resource Center, where tutoring and the learning commons are located.

  • Indiana 211 complements IvyCares by providing support where IvyCares might not, offering resources for food, housing, utilities, childcare, health care, and crisis assistance. Available 24/7, Indiana 211 connects you to local services tailored to your needs, ensuring you have access to essential help beyond what IvyCares covers. Call, text 211, or visit their website for free, confidential support.
