On Wednesday, Oct. 7, students will have an opportunity to connect with Indianapolis community organizations and learn about resources that can help them navigate challenges like finding affordable housing and food, and navigating healthcare, employment, transportation, and mental health support.
IvyCares and Student Life will host the Ivy Tech Community Resource Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Illinois Fall Creek Center, located at 2535 N. Capitol Avenue.
The event combines two resource fairs hosted separately last year, a Basic Needs Resource Fair and a Mental Health Resource Fair, into one event designed to connect students with a broader range of community resources.
The fair will feature organizations offering assistance with basic needs, healthcare, mental health and other essential services. Students will be able to speak directly with community agencies, learn about what's available to them, and take information for use now or in the future.
Last year, the two resource fairs connected students with community organizations providing support related to food access, rental and utility assistance, employment, mental health and other needs. Such organizations included the Immigrant Welcome Center, United Way, PACE, Gleaners Food Bank, EmployIndy, and others.
This year’s combined event will build on that effort by bringing basic-needs and mental-health resources together in one location. Participating organizations are currently being invited, and a list of confirmed participants will be shared as organizations confirm their attendance.
In addition to connecting with community resources, students who attend can enjoy free popcorn and giveaways.
