What is Deferred Payment?
Deferred payment is when billing for the balance of a semester's cost is deferred until the end of the semester and payment isn't due until classes are complete. Deferred tuition payment programs allow students to gain skills or earn a degree or certificate without paying tuition upfront.
Corporate partners who wish to support their employees' education through deferred tuition payments can do so in two ways:
- Achieve Your Degree Program – Achieve Your Degree is the name of Ivy Tech's employer-sponsored deferred payment program. The program provides a path for employees of participating companies to learn new skills and earn a college degree or certificate in a field of study approved by you at minimal or zero up-front cost, all while working full time. This program is described in detail on this page.
- Deferred Billing Authorization – Ivy Tech also offers the option of deferring tuition payments for both credit and non-credit courses through deferred billing authorization for corporate partners. Call 1-888-489-5463 to get connected with your local Ivy Tech Employer Consultant to discuss setting up a deferred billing authorization for your company.
How Achieve Your Degree Works
Ivy Tech assists students with applying to Ivy Tech and applying for financial aid. Any financial aid the student is awarded is applied to the semester's cost and then billing for the balance is deferred until the end of the semester. Company tuition reimbursement plans then cover the balance per company policy. The result is no-cost classes for students.
In-state tuition is offered to all students regardless of their primary residence. A combination of in-person and online courses ensures that students can maintain their work schedule while attending classes.
A Smart Choice for Employers
- The Achieve Your Degree program can replace internal professional development training
- Achieve Your Degree students become more involved in the surrounding community and are more loyal to your organization
- Ivy Tech will work with your company to design custom training, short-term training classes, and certifications that your employees can earn
- Ivy Tech's tuition rate is the lowest in the state

Taps Into Existing Tuition Reimbursement Benefits
The Achieve Degree program taps into the tuition reimbursement benefits you already have in place for your workforce. You collaborate with Ivy Tech to determine an approved set of programs, credentials, and classes that students can pursue using their allotted tuition benefits.
Ivy Tech will help students apply for financial aid. Any financial aid the student is awarded will be applied to the semester's cost and then billing and payment for the balance are deferred until the end of the semester. Company tuition reimbursement plans then cover the balance per your company policy.
If you don't already have a reimbursement policy, Ivy Tech will help you design one.
Tuition Costs
In-state tuition rates are offered to all students regardless of their primary residence. That means you can take advantage of Ivy Tech's low tuition costs (the lowest in Indiana!) for your workforce located all over the state, country, and world.
-
Onsite Assistance
IvyTech will come on-site to your place of business to provide application assistance and academic advising for your employees to accommodate busy work schedules and ensure appropriate course schedules. Our staff will assist employees with both the Ivy Tech application and their financial aid (FAFSA) application.
Student Support Services
We'll also provide individualized advising, financial aid guidance, and tutoring to foster employee success.
Marketing Materials
Ivy Tech will also provide all employers with marketing collateral to advertise the program to employees.
