The energy was electric this weekend as Hoosier girls from across the state filled the Ivy Tech Community College downtown Indianapolis Conference Center and Culinary Institute for the highly anticipated stop of the Girls Who Brunch Tour (GWBT): Safe Spaces, Brave Faces, The SafeT.E.A.™ Experience

The event, presented in partnership with Ivy Tech Indianapolis, marked a significant moment of community impact, transforming the campus into a vibrant hub of mentorship, leadership, and sisterhood.

The GWBT – which has reached over 50,000 girls nationwide across 28 cities – brought a blend of inspiration and practical skill-building to Indianapolis. Girls ages 9-20 participated in a dynamic day of interactive workshops focused on leadership development, health and wellness, and confidence-building. Attendees rocked their “sporty chic” and athleisure looks, embodying the day’s spirit of empowerment and self-expression.

“Partnering with Ivy Tech Indianapolis allowed us to provide a world-class experience for our girls,” said Dr. Ni’Cola Mitchell, founder of the Girls Who Brunch Tour. “From the moment they stepped into the Conference Center, they were in a space that told them they are valued and destined for greatness. We are incredibly grateful for Ivy Tech’s sponsorship and commitment to our mission of creating safe spaces for young women to thrive.”

The event featured inspiring speakers, a self-defense lesson, and wellness activities designed to equip girls with tools for mental and physical resilience. Attendees were also treated to special appearances by the Naptown Real Rollers and Indianapolis City-County Councilor Vop Osili, whose participation reinforced the day's message of leadership, community, and civic engagement. The use of Ivy Tech's state-of-the-art culinary facilities added a unique flavor to the experience, underscoring the importance of community spaces in fostering growth and opportunity. The day concluded with exciting giveaways and a celebration of sisterhood, leaving attendees inspired to lead and "slay" in their communities.

"We are proud to have sponsored and hosted the Girls Who Brunch Tour at our Indianapolis campus," Julie Scholl, executive director of marketing and communications and member of the sponsorship committee at Ivy Tech Indianapolis, said. "This event directly aligns with our mission to support and empower the communities we serve. Seeing the energy and potential in that room was a powerful reminder of why community partnerships like this are so vital to the future of our city."

The GWBT at Ivy Tech Indianapolis reinforces the college's role as a critical resource for community empowerment. The event also featured a vendor showcase with local businesses and organizations serving youth, families, health, wellness, education, and community empowerment, giving attendees the opportunity to connect with resources dedicated to supporting girls and their families long after the brunch ended. The Girls Who Brunch Tour has built a legacy of giving back, with over 12,000 toys distributed to families in need through annual initiatives collecting toys, hygiene essentials, and care packages for underserved and at-risk children. The organization also promotes literacy through programs designed to reinforce the fundamental importance of reading as a foundation for lifelong learning and success.
