Ivy Tech Community College Evansville will host its first Ability Expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the First-Floor Commons of the Koch Student Center, 3501 N. First Ave. The free event is open to the public.
Hosted by Ivy Tech Evansville’s Disability Support Services team, the expo is being facilitated by the EmpowerAbility Club with support from the Student Government Association, Campus Activities Board and Ivy Life. Attendees can meet local organizations serving people with disabilities, learn about available services and community programs, explore assistive technology and find resources that support access, independence and inclusion.
“Accessibility is an important part of how Ivy Tech serves our students and community. Ability Expo reflects our commitment to connecting people with the resources and programs they need, while bringing local organizations together on our campus as a community hub,” said Daniela Vidal, Ivy Tech Community College Evansville Chancellor.
Student leadership is central to the expo, bringing campus and community voices together around accessibility.
“Ivy Tech is a strong supporter of our students, and having the space to host Ability Expo here means a lot, said Eddie Burkel, Ivy Tech Evansville Student Government Association President. “I hope everyone leaves inspired by the people they meet and the resources they discover, just as Ivy Tech has inspired me.”
