Ivy Tech Indianapolis is highlighting the work of students, alumni, faculty, and staff through three art installations and exhibitions on display this fall, including a student-designed mural, an alumni exhibition, and a showcase of faculty artwork.
The fall lineup includes "A Seat at the Table," a mural designed by Ivy Tech Fine Arts student Olivia Ramsey; "Sensory Fields," an exhibition featuring Ivy Tech alumni Annabelle Johnson and Sabine Browning; and "In Practice," a showcase of work by fine arts faculty. Together, the exhibits on display at the Ivy Indy Art Gallery on the second floor of the Illinois Fall Creek Center (IFC) highlight Ivy Tech students' artistic growth from classroom projects to professional practice.
A Seat at the Table
One of the most visible additions to campus this year is “A Seat at the Table,” a mural designed by Ivy Tech Fine Arts student Olivia Ramsey and installed right outside of the campus gallery space. The project originated in an ARTS 102 Color and Design Theory assignment during the Spring 2026 semester, where students were challenged to propose a mural design for the location. Ramsey's concept was selected and later brought to life through a partnership with the ArtForce summer program.
Located near the campus cafeteria, the piece reflects the community college experience through imagery of shared space, growth and possibility. The design depicts a diverse group of friends gathered around a table, a floral motif, birds in flight, and incorporates quilt-inspired patterns that symbolize connection, belonging and the coming together of different backgrounds.
The mural will remain up for at least a year.
Sensory Fields
Inside the galleries, visitors can experience “Sensory Fields,” an exhibition featuring the work of Ivy Tech fine arts alumni Annabelle Johnson and Sabine Browning. Both artists earned Associate of Fine Arts degrees from Ivy Tech before transferring to the Herron School of Art and Design, where they completed their Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees. Though their artistic approaches differ, both artists use repetition as a tool for investigation and discovery.
Johnson's paintings explore optical perception, geometric pattern, and color relationships, examining how the eye and brain process visual information. Her work uses carefully constructed compositions to create optical effects while remaining grounded in strong artistic principles of color and design. Johnson graduated from Ivy Tech in 2022 and earned her BFA in Painting from Herron in 2025. She currently works as both a painter and tattoo artist in Indianapolis.
Browning's work focuses on the body's relationship to emotion, memory, and physical sensation. Through ceramics, painting, and experimental materials, she investigates themes of vulnerability, healing, and personal experience. Her recent work incorporates repeated forms and labor-intensive processes that transform deeply personal emotions into tangible artistic expressions. Browning recently completed her BFA in Integrative Studio Practice at Herron and a post-baccalaureate program focused on ceramic research and overglaze techniques.
Together, the artists invite viewers to consider how human experiences are shaped by both physical perception and emotional memory. The exhibition demonstrates how two Ivy Tech alumni have built successful artistic practices while continuing to explore complex questions about what it means to see, feel, and understand the world around us.
Sensory Fields will remain on display through October 16.
In Practice
Also on display this fall is “In Practice,” an exhibition featuring artwork by Ivy Tech faculty members. The show includes work by Fine Arts faculty Liz Wierzbicki, Colton Pedro, Nathan Winship Smith, Hector Delcampo, Stuart Snoddy, Priya Wittman, Ting Waddles, Ellery Diaz, and Tre Reising, along with Tristan Reed, studio technician, and art history professor Josh Phillippe.
The exhibition offers students and visitors an opportunity to see the professional creative work being produced by the artists and educators who help shape the Fine Arts program every day.
In Practice will remain on display through October 16.
