Once you receive your acceptance letter, there are a few steps you need to complete to fully enroll in IvyTech and register for classes.
Below is a step-by-step guide for new students on how to complete your enrollment and register for classes.

The team at Ivy Tech will support you along every step of your Ivy Tech journey, including getting started as a new student!
Once you've received your acceptance email and letter, many students find that meeting with an Enrollment Specialist at your campus is the best way to kick off the enrollment and class registration process. They'll help you learn about the steps that need to be taken to get you fully enrolled at Ivy Tech and ready for your first day of class.
The meeting can be in-person, over the phone, or via video conference, and is designed to provide the support you need.

To get started, set up your MyIvy account, which you’ll use all the time for student information. MyIvy is Ivy Tech's online student portal that students use to check e-mail, register for classes, pay tuition, manage financial aid, get the latest news and announcements, and much more.
You may have already set up your MyIvy account during the application process, but if you didn't, follow the steps below.
How to Create a MyIvy Account – First-Time User Instructions- Go to https://myivy.ivytech.edu/
- Click on “First Time User?”
- Review the Ivy Tech Community College Acceptable Use Policy and click “I Agree”
- Enter the requested information. Your Ivy Tech email address can be found in the confirmation letter (see example at right) you received after your application was processed.
- Click “Get Started”
- Enter your personal information. Your student ID number is also called your C-number and can be found in the confirmation email and letter you received after your application was processed.
- Enter your personal email address and cell phone number for your validation code and choose your preferred method to receive your code
- Check “I’m not a robot”
- Click “Next”
- Enter your validation code
- Click “Next”
- Create your password
- Log In

It’s important to regularly check your @ivytech.edu email account in MyIvy for important registration and financial aid updates.

Financial aid is money that helps you pay for college. Financial aid includes scholarships, grants, work-study, and loans—all of which help make college more affordable.
Click the links below to learn more about the different types of financial aid and how to apply for them:
File Your FAFSA
In order to apply for financial aid, you need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year. The easiest way to file the FAFSA is online at FAFSA.gov. After filing your FAFSA, Ivy Tech will be able to tell you which scholarships and grants you could receive as well as how much money you can borrow in student loans.
Many students qualify for aid and receive up to $6,400 that can be used toward tuition, as well as the cost of living expenses like transportation and rent. Financial aid may also make you eligible for other grants and scholarship opportunities.Ivy Tech has awarded $228 million in scholarships, grants, and work-study and more than 70% of all students qualify for financial aid—see if you qualify!
- FAFSA School Code – Use Ivy Tech school code 009917 when you apply for financial aid at fafsa.gov. The code is the same for all Ivy Tech locations.
- FAFSA Deadlines – Students can begin filing the FAFSA for the 2023-24 school year on October 1, 2022. Be sure to complete the FAFSA before April 15 to be considered for most forms of state aid, including the Frank O'Bannon Higher Education Award. It’s best to fill it out as early as you can because some aid is first come, first served. If you file after April 15, you will not be eligible for state aid, but will still be eligible for federal aid and aid from Ivy Tech directly.
Complete the Ivy Tech Scholarship Application in MyIvyScholarships are gifts that don't need to be paid back. There are more than 1,000 scholarship opportunities listed in MyIvy right now. Scholarships are awarded to students based on a specific set of criteria, such as financial need, academic performance, college major, hometown, or other unique criteria. To apply for most Ivy Tech scholarships, all you have to do is complete one scholarship application in MyIvy to see if you qualify. It's that easy!

Assessment for Course Placement
Before you register for classes, we need to assess your college readiness and make sure the classes you take are the right fit for you. You may have already submitted assessment documentation during the application process, but if you didn't, read on.
We can measure where your skills are currently in three ways. Review the options below to help you decide which path you'd like to take to meet the assessment requirement.
- You can submit your ACT, SAT or PSAT scores, high school GPA, or previous college credit and transcripts to help determine course placement. View How to Upload Assessment Documents
- Or, you can complete our free Knowledge Assessment to help develop your customized learning path to better prepare you for courses.
- Or, you may be able to take a co-requisite class (a class you take at the same time as another course that provides related academic support).

What is FYIvy?
FYIvy is an online orientation video series that new students may watch as part of their enrollment in Ivy Tech. It's a quick guide to getting started at Ivy Tech and covers topics like the MyIvy student portal, course placement, academic advising, IvyCares, and more. Watching all segments of the video takes approximately 30 minutes and it must be completed in its entirety, though you don't have to watch it all in one sitting. You will need to have audio (headphones or speakers) in order to watch it.

After you've completed the steps above, you can meet with your academic advisor. All degree-seeking students are assigned an advisor based on their student status or program of study. Your advisor’s name and email can be found in MyIvy in the My Academic Profile section.
As a new, first-time Ivy Tech student, meet with your advisor to help ensure your educational and career goals are met at Ivy Tech. Together you'll:
- Discuss your major/academic program
- Review your assessment scores and any applicable waivers
- Develop your Academic Completion Plan
- Help you decide which courses to take
- Register for classes

How to Schedule an Appointment with Your Advisor
- Log in to MyIvy with your Ivy Tech email (username@ivytech.edu) and password
- Select "Schedule an Appointment" in the Quick Links section
- Locate your Academic Advisor or Faculty Advisor, then click the three dots next to their name and click Schedule. Find a time that works best for you.

How to Register for Classes
Once you have completed the steps above, you may register for classes. As a new, first-time Ivy Tech student, we recommend that you meet with your advisor who will help you develop your Academic Completion Plan and help you sign up for courses that are the best fit for you.

Ivy Tech students register for courses using the Schedule Builder tool which can be accessed within MyIvy.

- If you need assistance, your local admissions representative will help you register for classes.
- You can also register for classes in person by visiting the local enrollment center at the campus to which you applied.
- You are not required to meet with an advisor before registering for classes, but they are available if you need any help through the process. Find your advisor

Viewing Your Bill
When you register for classes, a bill is generated in your student account. Your bill can be viewed in your MyIvy account > Student Dashboard- > View/Pay Balance.
Making a Payment
Remember, you are financially liable for your registered classes. Be sure you've made payment arrangements before classes start to avoid classes being dropped for non-payment.
Payments can be made in three ways:
- Online by logging into MyIvy (Browse Topics > Billing & Financial Aid > View/Pay Balance).
- In-person at your local Bursar/Business Office.
- Online through IvyPay—a good choice for parents or others with granted access to make payments on your behalf.

If you’d like to spread out your payments in a set number of installments, you can set up a payment plan in MyIvy.

What Happens at Orientation?
One of the most exciting parts of getting ready to start classes is attending a new student orientation. There, you'll meet other students getting ready to start at Ivy Tech, tour the campus and classrooms, learn about student clubs and activities, find out how to use campus technology and access student support resources, and more. Orientation sessions are held in person or virtually depending on the campus.
How to Sign Up
If you've already registered for classes, it's time to sign up for a new student orientation session hosted by your local campus. Stop by or call your local enrollment center to schedule your orientation or browse a list of upcoming new student orientation sessions at your local campus and sign up today.
