Tickets are not required for this year's ceremony. There is not a limit to the number of guests a graduate can bring.

Graduates should arrive at 5:00 p.m. entering through gate 9 for check-in.

We look forward to celebrating your accomplishments at Ivy Tech’s 2023 commencement ceremony.

What you need to do to graduate:

  • Successfully complete all of the required courses for your degree program
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Complete any other graduation requirements your program might include

    • Gate 9 is designated as an entrance
    • There is no admission fee
    • Commencement programs will be available at each entrance gate
    • There’s no limit to the number of guests a student can invite
    • Please turn all phones off or on silent mode
    • Do not obstruct the view or sound of your fellow attendee
  • Requirements:

    • Complete a certificate, technical certificate, or an associate degree program in fall 2022, spring 2023, and/or summer 2023.
    • Submit an application for graduation.

    A minimum cumulative (overall) GPA 2.0 at the end of the spring 2023 term.

  • At the conclusion of each academic year, South Bend-Elkhart Chancellor selects one deserving graduating student as the recipient of the annual Distinguished Graduate Award. This honor is based upon academic achievement, cooperativeness, integrity, leadership and goals.Requirements:

    •  Complete a certificate, technical certificate or an associate degree program in the fall of 2022, or be on track to complete in spring or summer 2023.
    • Submit an application for graduation available here.
    • A minimum cumulative (overall) GPA 3.00 at the end of the fall 2022 term.All applications are due by the close of business at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29. Supplemental information listed below, coupled with this application, must be submitted to the Office of the Chancellor prior to the established deadline.The Office of the Chancellor will notify the student who has been selected no later than Tuesday, April 18.The Distinguished Graduate Award will be presented during commencement Friday, May 12, 2023. The award winner may be asked to give a brief speech during the ceremony, although a speaking role is not guaranteed at commencement.Application and all supplemental materials are due by Wednesday, March 29.
  • Participants are required to wear a black graduation cap and gown. To purchase your cap and gown, click here. Graduates must purchase their cap and gown no later than April 2023 when shipping to store, or May 2023 when shipping to home. No graduation apparel will be sold at the ceremony.


    NOTE: Cap and gowns will still be sold to individuals who need them following the established deadline date up until commencement, However, the later a student waits, the higher the probability of not having their size available increases. 


    Wear lightweight, comfortable business casual clothing under your cap and gown. Wear comfortable shoes as you will be standing for long periods.

    • Student Regalia cost is $45.98 which includes the Cap, Gown, and Tassel.

  • Photographer's contact information will be provided inside the student's diploma cover. Personal photography and videography are encouraged. There are no restrictions on flash photography before, during or after completion of the ceremony.

  • Graduates, faculty, staff, and guests will be allowed to bring with them a clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bag that does not exceed 12 in. by 6 in. by 12 in. or a one-gallon plastic bag (such as Ziploc or Hefty bags). The bags may have a logo no larger than 4 in. by 3.4 in. Bags carrying a properly sized logo of teams or venues are permitted.

    Small clutches – 4.5 in. by 6.5 in. or approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap, may also be taken into the facility along with clear bags.
