TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) Preparation

This prep course equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed on the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). Students will strengthen their abilities in mathematics, science, English language usage, and reading comprehension, while also building practical test-taking strategies for managing time and reducing test anxiety. Through diagnostic assessments and personalized study planning, students leave the course with a clear, individualized path toward TEAS success.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Develop effective test-taking strategies, time management techniques, and strategies to reduce test anxiety.

Gain the mathematical skills necessary to solve TEAS-specific problems, covering arithmetic, algebra, data interpretation, and measurement.

Enhance their understanding of key scientific concepts, enabling them to answer science-related questions.

Enhance proficiency in grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and vocabulary.

Improve reading comprehension abilities through practice with passages similar to those found on the TEAS exam, with a focus on extracting key information and making inferences.

Create personalized study plans based on diagnostic results, learning styles, and test goals.

Mathematics: whole numbers, fractions, decimals, ratios/proportions, algebraic equations, and measurement conversions

Science: human anatomy & physiology, life science, chemistry, and scientific reasoning

English & Language Usage: grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and vocabulary building

Reading: comprehension strategies, identifying main ideas, making inferences, and interpreting informational graphics

Test-Taking Strategies: time management, pacing, process of elimination, and reducing test anxiety

Diagnostic Assessment & Study Planning: identifying strengths/weaknesses and building a personalized study plan

Passing the TEAS exam is often the first step toward acceptance into Ivy Tech's competitive Health Sciences programs. This prep class gives you the tools and confidence to score your best — opening the door to in-demand careers such as:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Nursing Assistant / Patient Care Technician

Students will need to download the practice exam - a link will be provided upon registration - take the exam and then register for the prep course.

When you click on the  below, you will be directed to the Skills Training Self-Registration Portal. Once there, click on Start Your Registration. If you are a return skills training student and know your login information, you can also login. If that fails, click Start Your Registration (we'll be able to match your account). 

Note: You will be asked to provide your SSN; this is necessary to match or create a new account with the College. This data is encrypted and deleted from the registration platform once it has been transmitted into our closed database. Please review the College's Skills Training Terms and Conditions and the Student Financial Agreement fully before submitting your registration. If you do not wish to submit your SSN, please reach out to the contact person for the class for alternatives. 

There are several flexible options available to help cover the cost of your skills training class:

  • One-time payment – Pay the full class price upfront.

  • Payment plan – Split your payments into 3-, 6-, or 9-month installments ($30 to set up, no interest).

  • Employer sponsorship – Your employer may fund your training as part of a workforce development or upskilling initiative - ask them today!

  • Workforce Ready Grant - if the class expressly states it's a Workforce Ready Grant class, you can select this to start the process for checking your eligibility.
