Apply For Graduation

All graduating students must apply for graduation, even if you do not plan to attend commencement.

Students graduating in Fall 2024, Spring 2025 or Summer 2025 should apply for graduation.

To apply:

  1. Log into MyIvy
  2. Click Student > Advising > Apply to Graduate
  3. Follow the instructions on the screen to select your curriculum, name to appear on the diploma, mailing address and whether you will be attending the commencement ceremony

RSVP To Attend The Ceremony

All students who have applied to graduate must RSVP as to whether or not they will attend Commencement ceremonies. Please RSVP even if you do not plan to attend. You can RSVP by completing a brief survey HERE or by scanning the code:

  • At the conclusion of each academic year, one deserving graduating student is selected to receive the Distinguished Graduate Award. This honor is based on academic achievement, cooperativeness, integrity, leadership, and goals. Applications for the Distinguished Graduate Award are now closed. 

  • Where to Order:

    You must have a cap and gown as well as a tassel in order to participate in the ceremony. Students who do not have a cap and gown will not be permitted to participate, so pay close attention to the ordering deadlines. If you require assistance in acquiring your cap and gown, please fill out this form.

    2nd/Final Deadline: April 17  (fee for expedited shipping to home)

  • Faculty Rental Regalia

    • Faculty will be able to order rental graduation regalia that will be delivered to their home.

  • Due to capacity limits, each graduate will be given three guest tickets for Commencement. Graduates do not need a ticket. PLEASE BRING YOUR IVY TECH ID OR GOVERNMENT-ISSUED ID WHEN PICKING UP TICKETS. Graduates can pick up tickets on the following days and times:

    • Tuesday, April 29, 12:30 to 3 p.m., East Chicago location, Enrollment Center, 410 E. Columbus Dr.
    • Wednesday, April 30, 10 a.m. to noon or 4 to 6 p.m., Arts & Sciences location, Enrollment Center/Registrar's Office, 3491 Broadway, Gary
    • Thursday, May 1, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Crown Point location, Enrollment Center, 9900 Connecticut Dr., Crown Point
  • Students can begin arriving at 2:30 p.m. via the Event Center entrance. Students MUST arrive by 3:30 p.m. to allow time for check-in and lining up for the ceremony. Only students will be allowed to enter through the Event Center. 

    The Event Center will not be locked during the ceremony and there will be no secure place to stow belongings. Please leave valuables with one of your guests. 

    Main doors open at 3 p.m. for guests. 

    Please do not wear high-heeled shoes, including wedges. High heels are a safety concern and can damage the floor and will not be allowed. 

    Cookies and bottled water will be available for graduates in the Event Center until it is time to line up to process into the Commencement ceremony area. 

    Guests are not allowed to bring balloons into the ceremony so as not to obstruct the view of other spectators. Please let your guests know they will not be allowed into the ceremony if they are carrying balloons. 

    Please be respectful of classmates crossing the stage. After receiving your diploma cover, please return to your seat for the remainder of the ceremony. Graduates will exit as a group. We ask that all spectators remain until all graduates have exited. 

    The ceremony will be livestreamed via the campus Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/IvyTechLakeCounty

  • To give our grads' families a convenient way to commemorate this special day, we have contracted with The Commencement Group to provide premium floral bouquets and select graduation merchandise for sale. Items can be pre-ordered at https://www.thecommencementgroup.com/ivytechlc/ or by scanning the QR code below, or purchased onsite the day of graduation. We're sure you'll find the perfect gift to celebrate this milestone!

     

  • Professional photos will be taken by Cooley's Video and will be available for purchase several days after the ceremony. A link to purchase photos will be posted here when they are available. 

    Photo booths will be available in the Event Center lobby for GRADS ONLY.

    Additional backdrops will be available for photos in other designated areas for family and friends and photo opportunities outside the doors as you exit. 

  • A limited number of printed Commencement program booklets will be available at the ceremony. A QR code to a digital version of the booklet will be provided here closer to the date of the ceremony and also will be posted at the venue for access on mobile devices. 

  • A limited number of parking spaces will be available in the lot adjacent to the Dean and Barbara White Community Center. Additional parking and a shuttle service will be available across the street at Merrillville High School. ADA drop-off and parking areas also will be available.
