Frequently Asked Questions

  • Students must be prepared to follow Ivy Tech academic calendar. That is, students must attend classes, submit coursework, and take exams according to the course syllabus regardless of other commitments.  Dual-enrolled classes are college classes that the student is taking outside of high school.  Instructors can have different expectations for students compared to what they are used to at the high school.

  • For 2nd 8 weeks (starting March 18th), student must be registered by Friday, March 15th.  For summer session, starting June 3rd, students must be registered by Friday, May 31st

  • For 2nd 8 week classes (March-May), students will need to drop class by March 25th.  This ensures there will be no reporting of class.  If student does not drop by March 25th, they have until April 28th to withdraw, in which will show a WD on transcript.

  • Yes

  • If you want to pursue a bachelor’s degree, the courses you take at Ivy Tech while you’re in high school can be focused on achieving the Indiana College Core, which fulfills core requirements equivalent to your first year of college. If you complete this 30-credit hour certificate while you’re in high school, you can start as a sophomore at any public (and many private) Indiana four-year institution right after graduation. You literally save a year’s worth of time and tuition!

  • Contact the instructor of the class per syllabus contact information

  • Qualified students will be:

    • A student in grades 9-12 that meets the course pre-requisites.
    • High school students whose high school doesn’t offer Dual Credit classes
    • Homeschooled students ready for the challenge of college courses

If you’re a high school student and you think dual enrollment might be right for you, find your local Ivy Tech campus dual enrollment coordinator via the light green box (also sometimes called the K-14 office) for advising. The coordinator will help you understand your options and walk you through the application process.
