Taking the Knowledge Assessment (online and free)
VIDEO: Knowledge Assessment overview
If you do not have previous college credit, an ACT, SAT or PSAT score, or a cumulative high school GPA that satisfies the assessment requirement, you will need to complete the Knowledge Assessment, which is currently only available to take online. Your results determine which writing, reading, and math classes you'll take first. The Knowledge Assessment is free. Your score will be accepted up to four years after you take the assessment. As you complete the diagnostic part of the assessment, EdReady builds an individualized curriculum based on your responses. After the diagnostic, you have the opportunity to continue to improve your skills through Learning Paths to prepare for the courses in your program.
How to Sign up for the Knowledge Assessment
The following information includes an overview of Knowledge Assessment, instructions to set up your assessment account, goal keys to get you started, and what to do when you are done with the diagnostic tests. At the end, there is contact information for answers to questions about account set up or contacting Advising at your campus. You will want to save this information for future reference.
STEP 1: SETTING UP YOUR ASSESSMENT ACCOUNT:
Go to https://myitcc.edready.org and create your account.
- We suggest that you use your Ivy Tech email as your user name.
- Pay close attention to the instructions. If the information is incomplete or the formatting is wrong, your progress will not be automatically sent to Ivy Tech’s Banner records. This could delay your class registration.
- You can find your C# in the packet you received from Admissions, or on your student schedule in MyIvy.
STEP 2: ENTERING GOAL KEYS:
The GOAL KEY for all math assessments is KAMath. The GOAL KEY for English KAReadWrite.
- The Knowledge Assessment for Math includes three different math assessments. If you do not know which math course you are preparing for and do not want to take all three assessments, ask Admissions at in-admissions@ivytech.edu, or continuing students can contact your campus advisor* by logging in to your dashboard at MyIvy > STUDENT > Advising > Schedule an Advising Appointment)
