Expanded Functions for Dental Auxiliaries

Learn about restorative dental procedures in this instructor-led, sequenced class.

This instructor-led course is derived from the elements of basic dental anatomy, dental dam application, placing and contouring matrices, pit and fissure sealants, polishing and finishing amalgam and composite restorations. Sequencing of the restorative procedures is designed so each class meeting builds on the previous class. Each element makes a unique contribution to understanding the material. Upon successful completion of this course the student will be expected to:

  1. Identify the anatomical landmarks and surfaces of dentition

  2. Identify characteristics differences in dentition

  3. Define G.V. Black's classifications of caries

  4. Demonstrate placement and removal of dental dam

  5. Relate the purpose of etchings, bonding agents, and bases in coordination with restorative materials

  6. Prepare and manipulate metallic fillings, composites, and glass ionomers for restorative purposes

  7. Demonstrate proper handling and disposal of dental materials

Employee registration is coordinated by the Program Manager supporting your training. Depending on the course, employees may register in person, through an organization-provided roster, or via a self-registration link.
