Over 250 Ivy Tech Indianapolis students and alumni had the opportunity to connect with 36 employers in central Indiana looking to hire part-time employees or interns at Ivy+ Career Link’s Fall 2026 Part-Time Job & Internship Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

After a successful inaugural run in the spring inside the then-newly reopened Illinois Fall Creek Center (IFC), the Ivy+ Career Link team decided to host another opportunity for both our students and community employers to meet in person, form connections, gain insights on available opportunities, and possibly leave with interview dates or even employment offers.

“Part-time jobs and internships allow students to attend school and work while balancing other responsibilities,” Jenny Trusler, Ivy+ Career Link Talent Connection Manager, said. “They also provide students with the opportunity to gain important work experience that may lead to long-term career opportunities.”

The fair featured employers from a wide range of industries, including business, construction, education, healthcare, hospitality, and human services, giving attendees a chance to explore career pathways aligned with their interests and goals. Katie Marbley, Talent Connection Manager for the Schools of Nursing, Health Sciences and Public Affairs and Social Services, said the event's strength lies in meeting students where they are and making employer connections more accessible.

“By bringing employers to campus with part-time jobs and internship opportunities, we give students a convenient way to connect with employers at times that work with their schedules, while building professional connections and exploring career pathways,” Marbley said.

In addition to networking opportunities, Ivy+ Career Link once again offered free professional headshots. More than 100 headshots were taken during the event, helping students enhance their professional presence as they prepare to enter the workforce.

Throughout the day, employers praised Ivy Tech students' professionalism and preparedness, while students appreciated having so many employers gathered on campus in one place. According to Marbley, those interactions define the success of events like the Fall Part-Time Job & Internship Fair.

“Success means building strong pipelines between our students and employers,” Marbley said. “It’s about creating meaningful connections that continue beyond the event and lead to internships, employment and career opportunities for our students.”

The Fall 2026 fair was held in the Conference Center and Culinary Institute building rather than IFC, the location used for the spring event. Despite the venue change, organizers continued to be pleased with the turnout and positive feedback from participating employers.

For students preparing to attend future career fairs, Marbley encourages them to engage with as many employers as possible and keep an open mind.

“You may discover opportunities that you didn’t realize were available,” she said. “Students should also take advantage of Ivy+ Career Link’s workshops, whether it’s resume development, interview and career fair preparation, or developing their elevator pitch. These are skills and qualities that employers consistently tell Talent Connection Managers they look for in candidates.”
