Zahavah Carter, new elementary education student, at Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington is motivated to succeed in her career goals and chose Ivy Tech to help her get there.

“I chose Ivy Tech because of how affordable tuition is without sacrificing the quality of their programs,” she said. “They have really set me up for success and worked with me on everything so far. Between the amazing support at Ivy Tech and my desire to start my career, I know I will reach my goals.”

Before becoming a student at Ivy Tech, Carter finished high school while taking care of her infant daughter. “Even though going to school is challenging when you have a child, I knew going to college would be the best thing for my family,” she said.

Carter plans to become an elementary school teacher when she finishes college. “I love children and hope to be a positive influence and inspire future generations to love learning like I do,” she said.

Carter explains how the new Ivy+ tuition model that includes free books this year, free classes after 12 credit hours, and frozen tuition rates has helped. “Ivy Tech was already my first choice for college because of the affordability but now, with Ivy+ I can feel way more secure in my decision to further my education.”
