Jacqueline McDaniel chooses Ivy Tech for flexibility, benefits from Ivy+ free textbooks

Jacqueline Jenkins McDaniel, an Early Childhood Education TSAP major, chose Ivy Tech Bloomington because it provides an online associate degree option that transfers, which gives her the flexibility she needs.

“I chose Ivy Tech because it’s close to home and because of the fully online option,” said McDaniel. “It gives me the freedom to still be there for my kids when they need me and travel if I choose to!”

Because of Ivy Tech’s new tuition model, Ivy+, McDaniel is benefitting from free required textbooks through Spring Semester 2022 and a frozen tuition rate.

“I am currently not working, so the free books are allowing me to continue my schooling,” she said.

Before becoming an Ivy Tech student, McDaniel was a stay-at-home mom, helping her Kindergartner navigate virtual learning due to the pandemic. Her future educational and career plans include transferring her associate degree to earn her bachelor’s and becoming a Kindergarten teacher in her home school district.

Ivy Tech Early Childhood Education graduates can seamlessly transfer their associate degree to a four-year college through the Transfer as Junior (TSAP) program, which enables graduates to save time and money on earning a bachelor’s degree. Ivy Tech’s Early Childhood Education programs are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Ivy Tech accepts free applications year-round at www.ivytech.edu/apply and offers multiple course start dates for faster completion. Funding opportunities are available, including the Federal Pell Grant and the TEACH Grant, for students who are planning to become teachers in a high-need field or low-income school.
