Ivy Tech to host Biosciences Career Education Open House on Nov. 13

Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington is hosting a Biosciences Career Education Open House on Wednesday, November 13 at the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences.  This drop-in event is open to the public and will run from 6-8pm.

Anyone interested in a career in a growing industry will have the opportunity to visit with representatives from local employers and educational institutions, as well as hear short talks from local bioscience companies and recent graduates of Ivy Tech-Bloomington’s Technology and Biotechnology Programs.  A tour of the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences educational facility will also be offered.

Additionally, representatives from Cook Pharmica, Cook Medical, Cook Polymer, Indiana University Bloomington Biotechnology Department, Ivy Tech-Bloomington Design Technology Department, Ivy Tech-Bloomington Engineering Technology Department, and Ivy Tech-Bloomington Biotechnology Department will be on-site to answer questions about their programs and the industry.

About the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences

The Indiana Center for the Life Sciences is a result of a partnership between Monroe County Government, Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington and regional life science companies. This state-of-the-art facility houses education and training programs to prepare individuals for careers in the life sciences industry. Specifically, Ivy Tech partners with area businesses to use the ICLS facility space for industry-specific training and certification. Ivy Tech holds its biotechnology and chemistry degree program courses at the ICLS. The center was constructed by the county using TIF funding on land owned by the campus.
