* Skills training classes do not earn you college credit on their own, but they may exempt you from needing to take a specific course as part of a for-credit program's curriculum in the future. In fact, many of Ivy Tech's non-credit skills training classes are designed to crosswalk into for-credit programs offered by Ivy Tech to give you credit for your prior learning; however, we cannot guarantee that other colleges and universities will accept non-credit skills training classes as a substitute for one of their courses.

Attend Ivy Tech as an International (F-1 Visa) Student

Ivy Tech welcomes international students who plan to study in the United States on an F-1 student visa. This includes students seeking admission or transferring to Ivy Tech as an F-1 student, as well as students changing their status to F-1.

International students can pursue Ivy Tech degree programs and receive support navigating the additional requirements for F-1 students. When you're ready to apply, you'll use the general Ivy Tech application and complete a few additional steps, including providing transcripts, your passport, proof of financial support, and proof of English language proficiency.

Ivy Tech's Dual Admission agreements allow a student to start working toward their associate degree at Ivy Tech while they are simultaneously enrolled at a four-year partner college or university. 

In your first two years, you take Ivy Tech classes as you work on your associate degree while enjoying the on-campus activities and resources at the four-year partner institution where you will later earn your bachelor’s degree.

Ivy Tech has Dual Admission partnerships with two Indiana universities: IU Southeast and Purdue University Northwest.

Common Questions

  • If you’ve never applied to Ivy Tech before (or if it’s been two years since you last attended classes here), you’ll need to complete an admission application. The application is completely free and has no testing or GPA requirements. There is no deadline for admission, but we recommend applying early to make sure you have time to complete the required enrollment steps before your term begins.

    Once you've submitted your application, you'll receive an email that will walk you through how to verify your identity through IvyID. This process is easy and should only take a few minutes to complete. You will need a government-issued form of ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, to complete this step. Your application for admission to Ivy Tech will not be reviewed until you have verified your identity.

  • It takes approximately 7-10 business days to process your application. Once you are accepted, you will receive an email that contains your C-number and next steps.

    If it’s been more than ten business days since you’ve applied and you have not received any updates, contact your local Admissions team or call 888-IVY-LINE (888-489-5463).

  • Congratulations! You have just a few more steps you need to complete before you can register for classes. We recommend setting up a meeting with an Enrollment Specialist who can help walk you through each step and make sure you’re ready for your first day of class. We’ve also put together a complete New Student Checklist that includes all of your required enrollment steps.

  • Our 8-week class sessions start five times throughout the year—January, March, June, August, and October. Make sure you check the academic calendar for specific start dates and other important events.

  • Ivy Tech has transfer agreements with over 100 schools, meaning you can seamlessly transfer credits and save money on your education! You can find information on specific schools and programs on our Transfer page.

  • Your application is valid for two calendar years. If it’s been two years since you’ve applied or taken a class, you must complete a new application.

    If it’s been less than two years since you’ve applied or taken classes at Ivy Tech, you should still be able to log into MyIvy to access your account and register for classes. If you need any help with the registration process, contact your academic advisor.

  • The Next Level Jobs program completely covers tuition and mandatory fees for qualifying students. You are eligible to earn a free credential from Ivy Tech if you fulfill all of the following requirements:

    • You are an Indiana resident, and
    • You have a high school diploma or GED/High School Equivalency, and
    • You have not previously received a certificate in a Next Level Jobs-eligible program, and
    • You have not previously received an associate degree or higher (bachelor's, master's, etc.)
