The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is an integral part of the health care team. The Technical Certificate in Practical Nursing can be earned on the way to acquiring the Associate of Applied Science degree. Many available jobs require this certificate. This program provides education in conceptual and technical skills for specific occupations.  Curriculum is designed to develop competency in the comprehension of general and technical skills.  The Practical Nursing program leads to a Technical Certificate that can be completed in one year.

The Practical Nursing program is a selective program. The nursing program accepts a limited number of students each year and there is a separate application process. Contact your campus of interest below for more details.

Our Graduates

Graduates are eligible to apply to the state licensure exam (NCLEX-PN) to become a licensed Practical Nurse. They will be qualified to care for patients in a variety of health care settings such as hospitals, clinics, home care and physician offices.

Technical Certificates

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is an integral part of the health care team. The Practical Nursing program leads to a Technical Certificate and can be completed in approximately one year. The accredited program will prepare you to care for patients in a variety of health care settings, such as hospitals, convalescent centers, clinics, home care and physician offices. Graduates are eligible to apply to the state licensure exam (NCLEX-PN) to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Technical Certificate in Practical Nursing
(minimum 45 credit hours)

When applying to the college you should select “Health Care Support Nursing In” as your desired program of study and “Associate of Applied Science” as your intended program degree.  You will be accepted into Healthcare Support/Specialist with a concentration in Practical Nursing while you complete the prerequisite requirements.   


NOTE: The number of credits required for a degree or certificate is based on students who are program-ready and does not include College Prep courses. Availability of degrees and certificates varies by campus.
