New Student Orientation Session

Before you can register for classes, you must complete new student orientation. We encourage you to complete this step early so you'll have plenty of time to complete the remaining steps in order to register for the classes you want.

During New Student Orientation, you'll learn all the basics to help you get started including information about financial aid, registering for classes, how to use Campus Connect, and so much more.

Attend orientation in one of two ways:

  • 30-minute online orientation via the Quick Links channel in Campus Connect, or
  • In-person orientation session at your campus

Bloomington

Central Indiana (Indianapolis)

Online Orientation is available through Campus Connect

If you do not have internet access, please come to campus and use our computers. Computers are available in the North Meridian Center Room 119 or the Lawrence Campus Room 139 Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm, Friday 9am-5pm, and Saturday 9am-12pm

Once Assessment and Online Orientation are complete, please schedule your New Student Advising Session by calling 317-917-5955

Columbus

New Student Orientation Information

New Student Orientation can be completed after a student a student has completed an Application for Admission. The face to face sessions are by appointment only.  Please call the location you wish to attend to schedule your New Student Orientation.  See our steps to enroll for next steps after your orientation is complete.

East Central (Anderson, Marion, Muncie, New Castle)

If you plan to attend orientation on-campus you can schedule an appointment at https://am.ivytech.edu/ameonlineec/, click the “Go to Prospective and New Student Portal” then choose your campus and date.   You may also contact the Office of Student Affairs at your campus to schedule an on-campus orientation.  

Note- Headphones are available to students who plan to complete the orientation in an on-campus session for the audio portion of New Student Orientation.

What You Need To Know:

Students need to apply to the college before taking the on-line orientation or attending on-campus orientation. You can apply on-line at www.ivytech.edu/apply-now.

Length of New Student Orientation is approximately one hour.

On-campus New Student Orientations have limited space. Priority will be given to students attending orientation.  If you bring parents, spouse or friends, please be aware of the limited seating.   Please do not bring children.

About Student Orientation:

Sessions will last approximately 2 hours.  Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the start time to check in. You must also be able to stay for the entire session in order to receive credit. Students may bring guests, including parents or significant others. No children please. Another new Ivy Tech student may not be your guest. Every new Ivy Tech student must make their own reservation.

Best of all, Student Orientation is FREE and will provide you with great resources to help you succeed at Ivy Tech.

Students are able to complete New Student Orientation in person by appointment. Please bring a notebook and pen. To make an appointment please contact the Elkhart County reception desk at 574-830-0375 ext. 4426 (no e-mail scheduling).

SOUTH BEND

Face-to-face sessions will last about two hours, and you must arrive prior to the start time. Orientations will begin promptly at the scheduled time, and if you are late, you will be required to reschedule. You must be able to stay for the entire session to get credit. Students may bring a guest (a parent or partner—no children are allowed).

Online Orientation is available through Campus Connect. Please enter your username and password and when logged in, look to the left hand side of the page under Quick Links. To retrieve your Campus Connect username and password, please set up a First-Time User account. You will need your name, student ID (C#), date of birth, and zip code to establish your username.

If you do not have Internet access, please come to campus and use our computers.

Once online orientation is completed, students can complete the Assessment Test and then schedule a Group Advising Session to enroll in courses.
