FINE ARTS

The Associate of Fine Arts is a transfer program that provides you with an opportunity to complete the first two years of study leading to a bachelor's degree in visual arts at colleges, universities and art schools. Students enrolled in the program take the foundation level courses that are comparable to most undergraduate fine art programs. Some students may choose to pursue a master's degree after receiving their baccalaureate degree to further enhance their skills and talents.

WHY CHOOSE THE FINE ARTS PROGRAM?
Students enrolled in the Fine Arts program at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana are continually exposed to artists, arts organizations, exhibitions and volunteer opportunities. Professional practices are stressed including portfolio creation, showing work in traditional and alternative venues, job and employment opportunities for artists, and best professional practices. Students have transferred and been accepted at some of the best schools in the country, including (but not limited to):

  • Herron School of Art
  • The University of Indianapolis
  • Indiana University
  • The School of the Art Institute of Chicago
  • Virginia Commonwealth University
  • Kansas City Art Institute
  • Savannah College of Art and Design

Classes are taught by practicing professional artists with years of experience in their fields. Faculty help students discover their own artistic voice and strengths, building confidence and both a visual and verbal vocabulary. Because class sizes are small, there is a strong sense of rapport, community and support within the program.
