Financial Aid Priority Processing Dates

You must complete your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at to receive a federal grant or student loan. While students may apply for federal financial aid throughout the year, Ivy Tech has established the following financial aid processing priority dates for each enrollment period:

  • December 1 (Spring Semester)
  • May 1 (Summer Term)
  • July 15 (Fall Semester)

In order to ensure priority processing and "on-time" delivery of eligible financial aid, students must apply and return all requested forms/verification paperwork to their Ivy Tech Financial Aid Office by the priority processing date. Meeting the priority date gives Ivy Tech the necessary time to review and process your aid request accurately and on time, as determined by eligibility, so that your aid will be posted by the first day of classes. It does not guarantee that your aid will be available for use at the bookstore prior to the first day of classes. It is recommended that you begin the financial aid application process at least 3-4 weeks before the priority processing date (for example, on or before mid-June for the following Fall semester).

If you have already filed a 2011-2012 FAFSA, you do not need to re-file for the December 1st priority date.

If the semester priority processing date is missed, a student's application will still be accepted and processed, however, your aid will most likely not be posted by the first day of classes. You can still take advantage of paying your tuition through Nelnet in order to meet the College's payment deadline for tuition and fees.
