Collegiate Purple Star Campus

Tier 3 Purple Star BadgeIn July 2025, Ivy Tech Evansville was designated as a Collegiate Purple Star of Indiana (CPSI) campus by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. This award recognizes that the campus provides a supportive environment for U.S. military-affiliated students throughout their journey from application to graduation.

Rex, the Monarch Lion, Ivy Tech Evansville's Mascot

In October 2025, Ivy Tech Evansville adopted Rex, the Monarch Lion as its mascot. Voted upon by the student body and faculty and staff in spring 2024, Rex is a nod to Rex Mundi High School, the former occupant of the current main campus of Ivy Tech, from 1958-1972. Rex Mundi's mascot was a Monarch.

Ivy Tech student Gracie Defur, was the inspiration behind the new mascot. She was a visual communications major and her goal was to become a graphic designer following graduation. Gracie’s sketches assisted the team in developing the digital image, which informed the costumed mascot.
