The study of electrical laws and principles pertaining to DC and AC circuits is the focus of this Basic Electricity Course. This will include among other things; current, voltage, resistance, power, inductance, capacitance, and transformers. The course stresses the use of standard electrical tests, electrical equipment, and basic trouble shooting procedures. Electrical safety and sound practices will be emphasized throughout the various aspects of the course curriculum.
This course provides an introduction to reading and interpreting machine shop symbols, welding blueprints and working drawings used in trades and crafts. Focus will be placed on dimension, shape, fabrication and assembly. Application of basic mathematics to the solution of print and performance problems is also included.
Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspector's Commission Course
Corporate College in cooperation with the State of Indiana's Boiler and Pressure Vessel Division, offers a special training course for persons interested in acquiring eligibility for securing certification from the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors as an authorized inspector, owner-user inspector or jurisdictional competency recognition. The course is designed for the understanding of ASME code standards, inspection concepts and preparation to sit for the National Board Examination. Persons not possessing all of the requisite experience or who are not employed by a recognized inspection agency at the time they sit for the exam, may attend the class and sit for the examination, but not anticipate receiving a commission until they have gained the required experience or have been employed by a recognized inspection agency. They must, however, be a high school graduate (or the equivalent) and possess a working knowledge of algebra, particularly transposition of formulas and order of operations.
Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT)
Maintenance expenses are the single largest controllable element in any operating budget. This course is designed as an introduction for new maintenance professionals or as a refresher for the veteran employee to give these professionals the knowledge and tools necessary to run an effective maintenance program.
Geometric dimensioning and tolerance is a symbolic language used on engineering drawings and computer generated three-dimensional solid models (CAD) for explicitly describing nominal geometry and its allowable variation. Thus defining the allowable variation in form and possibly size of individual features and defining the allowable variation between features.
This 240-contact hour program provides students with the knowledge and skills to assemble, install, troubleshoot, repair and modify machinery and automated systems in a manufacturing environment.
MSSC Certified Production Technician
The MSSC Certified Production Technician certification is the nationally recognized certification supported by the National Association of Manufacturers. The training will enable workers to build the core knowledge and skills required in modern advanced manufacturing. This course will validate with the certification the worker's technical, academic and employability skills needed in the modern manufacturing environment. The four modules comprising the course are:
NIMS CNC Machine Operator
Introduces the basic principles and practices of CNC machine operation used in manufacturing environments. The course will cover all aspects of safe and proper use of tooling, fixtures, and precision measurement devices with respect to CNC Parts and CNC machining centers. Caries Prevention for Dental Assistants
The course provides participants the opportunity to establish didactic, laboratory and clinic competency is applying medicaments for the control and prevention of dental caries. Included in the course will be concept and experiences in (1) ethics and jurisprudence; (2) reasons for fluoride, (3) systemic fluoride; (4) topical fluoride; (5) fluoride toxicity; (6) fluoride application and (7) infection control.
Does not include required patient care experiences in the dental office. Participants must complete coronal polishing on a minimum of 5 patients in a clinical setting, under the direct observation of an Indiana dentist or dental hygienist whose license is in good standing.
PREREQUISITES: Dental assistant who is (a) a graduate of a dental assisting program that is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association; or (B) a dental assistant who did not graduate from a dental assisting program that is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association but has been employed in a dental practice as a dental assistant for a minimum of one year. This class will prepare a student as a beginning level nurse aide with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for providing basic nursing care under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The course will include both classroom learning and clinical experiences. Prior to the start of the program, students must obtain a physical and TB testing. Students will also be responsible for a clinical uniform as outlined by state regulations and will be responsible for the costs associated with these items.

Inpatient and Outpatient Medical Coding and Billing
This training program prepares students for both inpatient and outpatient medical coding and billing careers and gives them the knowledge and skills required to obtain national certification through AHIMA or AAPC. Students focus on medical terminology, coding standards, and specific inpatient and outpatient medical code sets. Students also get hands on experience and train with 3M's Coding and Reimbursement System encoding software, used by many industry employers, preparing them for a quick transition to the workplace. Students receive support and instruction from an experienced staff of medical coders, as well as career guidance, a referral letter; resume review, interview coaching, preparation for the certification exams and identification of potential employment opportunities. The program's online format provides students 24/7 access, is self-paced, and is designed to be completed in one year or less. Program fees include all the necessary books and software, personalized student support and career guidance.
According to the current edition of the Occupational Outlook Handbook, Medical Transcription is among the ten fastest growing occupations in the U.S. An MT often works for hospitals, outpatient clinics, physician offices, national transcription services, or other medical offices. An MT listens to dictated recordings made by physicians and other healthcare professionals and transcribes them; creating medical reports that eventually become part of patients' permanent files. Students must have excellent editing and proofreading skills. Students should have a basic understanding of a word-processing program, to include being proficient at keyboarding, creating documents, e-mailing, and printing. (See prerequisites below.) Students gain a working knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to transcribe medical reports, learning the skills they need to obtain an entry-level position as a medical transcriptionist. The Medical Transcription Certificate Program has been designed to provide students with a beginning knowledge of the transcription of medical records. Included are ten inpatient case studies, ten inpatient reports that can be used as tests or as extra assignments, 25 outpatient reports, and ten outpatient reports that can be used as tests or as extra assignments. Each of these reports has been taken from hospital medical records. The reports utilized include history and physical examinations, radiology reports, operative procedures, pathology reports, consultations, discharge summaries, a death summary, an autopsy report, and correspondence. Reports are digitally recorded to be transcribed by the student. Different regional accents and background noises, which duplicate real-life situations, are used in the recorded dictation, the speed of which picks up as the student goes forward through the course. Transcription times will vary, depending on the length of the case study and the students' keyboarding skills, command of the English language, and knowledge of human anatomy and medical terminology. A complete medical terminology component is offered with the Medical Transcription Certificate Program, and students are also introduced to basic human anatomy. Upon registering, you are given an initial six months to complete the program. Should you need more time, you may request a 6-month extension at no additional charge.

Patient Access Specialist
Have you ever wondered what qualifications are required of the individual who registers you at your local medical facility? Patient access specialists represent the front line of service to patients with focus on excellent customer service providing a positive experience. The patient access specialist must possess strong communication and telephone skills, an understanding of medical terminology and the human body as well as comprehension of the importance of the revenue cycle and medical insurance options available to patients. A clear understanding and successful transmission of information from the patient and medical insurance company guarantees prompt administration of medical treatment to the patient and quick financial reimbursement for the medical facility. This course concludes with a 'capstone' review week including preparation for the National Association of Healthcare Access Management's CHAA certification course.
This comprehensive 50 hour course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board's PTCB exam. Technicians work in hospitals, home infusion pharmacies, community pharmacies and other health care settings working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.
Qualified Medication Aide
The Indiana Administrative Code for Comprehensive Care Facilities and Residential Care Facilities requires that all medications and treatments be administered by licensed nursing personnel or individuals who have completed a state-approved medication administration course. People who apply for this course must be current C.N.A.s who is on the Indiana State Registry.

Ivy Tech Community College is an American Heart Association Training Center offering two-year certifications in Heartsaver AED, Heartsaver CPR, Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers and First Aid.

Certified Alcohol and Tobacco Server
As of January 1, 2010, all employee and volunteer permit holders in the state are required to attend a certified server training program within 120 days of employment. This course will prepare you to meet the state requirement and be successful on the job.
Certified Professional Food Handler
This course will prepare individuals to take the exam set by the Indiana Code 410-IAC7-22, which requires mandatory certification of at least one person who oversees food safety operation within a food establishment. This instructor-led course focuses on completing all preparations necessary for an individual to successfully complete their CPFM certification exam. Topical areas of study include sanitation management, food safety hazards, factors affecting food-borne illnesses, personal hygiene, and the use and calibration of temperature-measuring instruments. Upon successfully completion, students will receive their CPFM certification, and their names will be added to the National Registry of Food Managers.
