Six Sigma White Belt

This six-hour course explores the basic concepts of quality and continuous improvement. Students are challenged to draw on their own experiences and beliefs of what constitutes quality. Teamwork concepts such as team dynamics, development stages, and agreement strategies are presented to prepare the student to become an effective Continuous Improvement team member.

This course examines high level concepts such as the relationship between customer and supplier, types of data, ways to reduce variation, and work process optimization. The Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology will be emphasized. Practical use and/or interpretation of simple tools, graphes, and charts is taught. All of these tools lead to a culmination of Root Cause Analysis and baisc problem solving. PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) is presented as a smaller scale framework in which to use these techniques.

**Participants will sit for an open-notebook exam at the end of the course. A passing score of 80% results in earning Ivy Tech White Belt Certification.
