WHAT IS IVY ACHIEVES?

Ivy Achieves is a dedicated support network designed to help first-year, first-time college students navigate college life successfully and reach their full potential. We know that with all that Ivy Tech has to offer, it can be hard for students to know where to start or what questions to ask to make sure they’re on the right track.

The Ivy Achieves program connects eligible students with a designated Student Success & Support Team. This team is made up of faculty and staff who are focused on connecting students to activities and guidance to navigate college successfully.

Ivy Achieves promotes a set of habits that will help students succeed in their first semester and beyond at Ivy Tech. Your habits — and how many you’ve completed — are tracked on the Ivy Achieves Successful Student Habits Barometer in MyIvy. Just like a barometer predicts the weather, your habits barometer can help you predict your success. The more habits you accomplish, the better your semester may go!

Read on to learn more about these habits.

HABITS FOR STUDENT SUCCESS

We recommend registering for classes at least 30 days before the start of term. By registering early, you can beat the rush and find the classes you need at the times that work best for you. Plus, registering early gives you time to deal with any issues that may occur before classes start.

You can go over the steps to register for classes on our Registration 101 page

IvyLearn is Ivy Tech’s virtual classroom system. This is where you can find assignments, class schedules, announcements from your professors, and lots of other resources! Logging into IvyLearn at least once per week helps students stay on top of their courses.

You can access IvyLearn through your MyIvy account or by clicking here

Academic advisors help students set and complete their academic goals. Your advisor can help you build an Academic Completion Plan, which will be your guide to which courses to take on the way to your certificate or degree. Make sure you regularly check in with your advisor to stay on track to earn your degree and learn about the academic opportunities available to you.

If you need any help with the process, Ivy Tech can help! Learn more about the application and connect with your local Financial Aid contact on the FAFSA 101 page

Students must be in paid status before the start of each term. If you are not, you risk being dropped from your classes. There are several ways to be in paid status:

  • Pay in full: You can make immediate payments online, through the mail, or in person at your local Business office. Learn more
  • Set up an approved payment plan: Ivy Tech offers low-cost payment plan options that break your tuition fees down into smaller, scheduled payments. Learn more
  • Have an approved financial aid plan: You may qualify for financial aid like scholarships or grants that can help cover your tuition and fees. Learn more

IVYT is an introductory, one-credit class that prepares you with the skillsets you need to navigate college successfully. You can see which IVYT course is required for your degree in the Course Catalog
