Psychology instructors at Ivy Tech have a sound academic preparation in psychology and a wide variety of practical experiences in applying psychological knowledge in the workplace. The Ivy Tech psychology course curriculum is broad, ranging from Introductory Psychology to more specialized courses such as Human Sexuality, Abnormal Psychology, and Theories of Personality. Graduates will be awarded an Associate of Science in Psychology.
An Associate of Science in Psychology equips the graduate for employment in positions such as: Mental Health Assistant, Youth Counselor, Home Care Aide, and Addictions Rehabilitation Assistant. Many of our graduates will transfer to an Indiana-supported four year university and complete a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Graduates will also have the option of enrolling at a private institution that accepts our transfer pathway.
The Associate of Science in Psychology at Ivy Tech is a Transfer Single Articulation Pathways (TSAP) program that provides a clear pathway for graduates to transfer to a four-year institution to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Any Indiana state-supported four-year institution will give credit for 60 hours of coursework at Ivy Tech to students it admits. When accepted into the four-year university, they will have junior status, which should allow completion of a Bachelor’s degree by completing 60 additional hours of course work. If you would like to continue your education after completing your Ivy Tech degree, we have several four-year transfer partnerships in place. Talk to your transfer advocate for more information about transfer opportunities!
