What Data Centers Are Looking For in an Employee

Data centers are requesting that new employees be trained in specific leadership skills, such as the Amazon Leadership Principles. At Ivy Tech, you can learn these leadership skills and help get the attention of potential employers.

Data Center Operators design, install, and maintain the computing infrastructure. This work also includes systems, repairing, dealing with issues, handling and tracking parts, and assisting in Data Center maintenance. Ivy Tech South Bend offers a Data Operations Certification that leads to jobs in this field.

A data technologist who works at a data center is typically called a Data Center Technician. Their primary responsibility is to install, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the hardware and network infrastructure within a data center, ensuring the smooth operation of servers, storage systems, and network equipment, while upholding data security and availability. Ivy Tech South Bend offers this certification to train students to work in this field.
