INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College and the Ivy Tech Foundation recognized Ivy Tech alumni, donors and volunteers from across the state this weekend at the 2024 Distinguished Alumni and Benefactor Awards in Indianapolis. The awards celebrate the contributions of accomplished graduates and generous donors and volunteers to their communities and to Ivy Tech. Each of Ivy Tech’s 19 campuses nominated a graduate and a donor for the Distinguished Alumni and Benefactor Awards, which the Ivy Tech Foundation administers annually.
Ivy Tech Richmond honored Chloe Bennett of Wayne County with the Distinguished Alumni Award, which celebrates Ivy Tech graduates who have made a lasting impact on their communities and on Ivy Tech through their exceptional professional, philanthropic or volunteer achievements. Chloe Bennett is a creative specialist in the funeral industry where she markets funeral solutions to directors nationwide. Chloe graduated from Ivy Tech Richmond in 2018 with a degree in engineering technology before earning her bachelor’s degree in 2020 from Purdue in computer graphics technology. See here for a full list of the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients.
Ivy Tech Richmond also recognized Debra Edelman of Wayne County with the Benefactor Award, which applauds the generosity of donors and volunteers – including individuals, corporations and foundations – whose support enables the Ivy Tech Foundation to bridge financial gaps that promote the academic success and career readiness of Ivy Tech students. Debra Edelman is a successful entrepreneur and leader in the recycling industry. She and her late husband, Jack, started The Recycling Center, Inc. in 1974. Debra is passionate about giving back to the community, supporting the Ivy Tech Foundation and many other organizations. Debra’s most recent contribution combines two of her passions: education and healthcare, resulting in the newly renovated healthcare simulation labs. And we’re excited to announce the new Healthcare Education Center at our Richmond campus will be named after Debra. See here for a full list of the 2024 Benefactor Award recipients.
“Our distinguished alumni and benefactors embody Ivy Tech’s mission to transform lives and strengthen Indiana’s economy. Through their time, talent, treasure, and testimony, individuals honored this year made significant contributions to the betterment of lives and their communities,” said Dr. Sue Ellspermann, president, Ivy Tech.
“Celebrating Debra Edelmann as our benefactor of the year and our distinguished alum, Chloe Bennett, is an honor,” said Chad Bolser, chancellor, Ivy Tech Richmond. “Debra’s support of Ivy Tech’s mission to bring the highest level of healthcare education experiences is inspirational. Likewise, Chloe is an amazing example of the quality of education on the Richmond Campus that led to further academic and career accomplishments. Although different stories, they both exemplify Ivy Tech Community College's impact on our service area.”
