Under the EPA's AHERA Asbestos in Schools Rule, all public, nonprofit private, and Department of Defense K-12 schools must maintain an up-to-date asbestos management plan for every building they own, lease, or use even if no asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM) are present. Management planners play a key role in helping schools and building owners meet these federal requirements safely and effectively.
Delivered under the supervision of the Ivy Tech Environmental Management Institute (Indianapolis), this course prepares participants to:
- Develop comprehensive asbestos management plans for buildings with or without ACBM
- Evaluate inspection data and make informed recommendations for managing asbestos where present
- Work directly with building owners and facility teams to maintain compliance and ensure ongoing safety
