Participants will have the opportunity to develop conversational proficiency for the purpose of team leading and performance management conversations. Practice with pronunciation and basic sentences that work in context will be provided during the session. Various materials and resources that can be useful for both a preview of the weekly lesson and practice outside of class will also be provided.

Objectives for oral fluency include learning: 1. Pronunciation

  1. Greetings

  2. Conversational topics: family, weather, hobbies/past times, food, etc.

  3. Basic phrases of encouragement

  4. Workplace specific terminology: Directions, Safety, Scheduling, Basic performance feedback

  5. Participants will be asked for their specific Spanish language needs in the workplace, so that the instructor can integrate these into lessons in the last couple of weeks once a fluency foundation is established.

Fields of work for which this training can provide a useful to critical upskill opportunity include banking, inspectors, car dealers, government, construction, courts, customer service, education, firefighters and EMS, golf courses, healthcare, human resources, landscaping, manufacturing, pharmacy, police, real estate, hospitality, retailers and supermarkets, tourism, and utilities.
