This hands-on course explores podcasting as a strategic tool in marketing, media, and digital storytelling. Students will learn how to develop engaging audio content that supports brand messaging, builds audience connection, and aligns with communication goals. Ideal for those pursuing careers in digital marketing, communications, or audio production and those wanting to learn this medium as a hobby. This course provides foundational skills in scripting, recording, editing, and distributing podcasts for promotional or narrative purposes.

  1. Identify and compare key podcast formats (narrative, interview, conversational, educational) and their uses across industries.

  2. Develop a well-defined podcast concept, including target audience, tone, and structure.

  3. Write scripts and create outlines to support clear, engaging audio storytelling.

  4. Record and edit high-quality audio using tools such as Audacity and external microphones.

  5. Conduct thoughtful interviews, incorporating active listening and follow-up techniques; Add music, sound effects, and other elements to enhance the listener experience.

  6. Use podcast hosting platforms like Anchor to publish and distribute episodes; Collaborate in small teams to plan, produce, and brand a multi-episode podcast series.

  7. Create basic promotional materials, such as episode descriptions and social media posts.

  8. Reflect on podcasting as a tool for professional communication, brand building, education, and creative storytelling.

Note: You will be asked to provide your SSN; this is necessary to match or create a new account with the College. This data is encrypted and deleted from the registration platform once it has been transmitted into our closed database. Please review the College's Skills Training Terms and Conditions and the Student Financial Agreement fully before submitting your registration. If you do not wish to submit your SSN, please reach out to the contact person for the class for alternatives. 

There are several flexible options available to help cover the cost of your skills training class:

  • One-time payment – Pay the full class price upfront.

  • Payment plan – Split your payments into 3-, 6-, or 9-month installments ($30 to set up, no interest).

  • Employer sponsorship – Your employer may fund your training as part of a workforce development or upskilling initiative - ask them today!

  • Workforce Ready Grant - if the class expressly states it's a Workforce Ready Grant class, you can select this to start the process for checking your eligibility.
