AWS Flux Core Welding (FCAW) Certification Preparation

This class covers Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) equipment and products used to produce grooves and fillet welds.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Provides an understanding of welding symbols and their uses
  2. Provides an understanding of flux core welding industry standards and practices
  3. Provides an understanding of industry safety measures and standards
  4. Provides an understanding of flux core welding positions
  5. Provides an understanding of satisfactory welds in vertical and overhead positions
  6. Provides an understanding of welding equipment and products
  7. Provides an understanding of welding tools and their uses

Steel toes shoes required. Ivy Tech will supply metal and other lab equipment.

Welders are in high demand statewide, with an anticipated growth of 6% in job openings by 2033. This is a four-flame occupation according to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development which makes it eligible for Workforce Ready Grant funding.

This workforce certification is available for free to qualifying students through the Next Level Jobs program. You are eligible to earn this free certification from Ivy Tech if you fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • You are an Indiana resident, and
  • You have a high school diploma or GED/High School Equivalency, and
  • You have not previously received an associate degree or higher (bachelor's, master's, etc.) and
  • You have not previously used Next Level Jobs/Workforce Ready Grant funding.
