This course covers the essential IT knowledge needed for careers in tech and other industries. This course also assists learners in preparing for the CompTIA IT Fundamentals+ certification exam.

MAJOR COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be expected to:

  1. Identify basic IT concepts and terminology.
  2. Explain the value of data and information.
  3. Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of databases, infrastructure, applications, and software development.
  4. Execute the troubleshooting methodology.
  5. Evaluate effective security practices in information technology systems.
  6. Articulate the importance of business continuity and behavioral security concepts.

Career Options

Potential career options include computer user support specialist. These front-line workers provide technical assistance to computer users. Answer questions or resolve computer problems for clients in person, via telephone, or electronically. May provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.

This course is a "learn anywhere" modality, meaning you can attend in person at the Hamilton County campus, 100% virtually, or a combination of the two.

  • You are an Indiana resident, and
  • You have a high school diploma or GED/High School Equivalency, and
  • You have not previously received an associate degree or higher (bachelor's, master's, etc.)
