The CompTIA A+ program is designed for entry-level Information Technology (IT) professionals. Through a mix of hands-on lab and classroom experiences, students will gain the knowledge required to assemble components based on customer requirements. They will also learn to install, configure, and maintain PCs and mobile devices for end users, and understand the basics of networking. The program prepares students to diagnose, resolve, and document common hardware and network issues while applying troubleshooting skills. Students will complete the program with a foundational knowledge of virtualization, scripting, desktop imaging, and deployment. Preparation includes practice tests and assignments based on the certification exams.

Class Details

The CompTIA A+ certification requires the student to successfully complete two exams:

The Core 1 exam, 220-1101 The Core 2 exam, 220-1102 After completing this program, students will be prepared to sit for the CompTIA A+ Core 1 and Core 2 exams. After successfully completing the A+ Core 1 and 2 exams, the student will earn the CompTIA A+ Certification.

This workforce certification is available for free to qualifying students through the Next Level Jobs program. You are eligible to earn this free certification from Ivy Tech if you fulfill all of the following requirements:

  • You are an Indiana resident, and
  • You have a high school diploma or GED/High School Equivalency, and
  • You have not previously received an associate degree or higher (bachelor's, master's, etc.)
