Nurse Refresher Skills Lab

Review and Update Your Nursing Knowledge

This course provides an opportunity to review and practice foundational nursing procedures, such as medication administration, patient assessment, wound care, and intravenous therapy, using current best practices.

The Nurse Refresher Clinical Skills Lab is designed to support nurses in re-establishing competence and confidence in essential clinical skills within a structured, hands-on learning environment. This course provides an opportunity to review and practice foundational nursing procedures, such as medication administration, patient assessment, wound care, and intravenous therapy, using current best practices. Through guided instruction in the lab and realistic simulation scenarios, participants demonstrate safe and effective performance of critical skills, preparing them for a return to clinical practice or transition into new healthcare roles.

Ivy Tech's Indianapolis campus offers the Nurse Refresher for the state. This eight-hour course is held in person at the Ivy Tech Lawrence campus nursing lab (a part of the Indianapolis campus).

Former and current RNs or LPNs who are interested in refreshing clinical skills knowledge or those required to complete this course to obtain or maintain professional LPN or RN licensing through the Indiana State Board of Nursing.

Pre-work is required to prepare for skills demonstrations and a simulation experience in the lab course.

Nurses must register for the Clinical Skills Lab separately. It is not a component of the Nurse Refresher Theory course.

The course is not available for state grant funding, and participants may self-pay and/or enroll in a payment plan to complete.
