This introductory seminar offers a clear and practical overview of mold—how it grows, why it matters, and what you can do to prevent or safely respond to mold problems in buildings. Because mold spores are naturally present in both indoor and outdoor environments, growth occurs when moisture, food sources, and proper temperatures align. Understanding these conditions is essential for protecting both workers and occupants.
Participants will learn how to recognize common mold issues, understand potential health effects, and apply best practices for moisture control and safe response. This course is ideal for maintenance personnel, facility staff, custodians, housing professionals, contractors, and anyone responsible for building upkeep or safety.
The seminar provides actionable guidance on:
- How mold grows and spreads
- How to recognize early signs of mold problems
- The relationship between moisture, building systems, and mold
- Health concerns associated with mold exposure
- Basic prevention and response practices that help maintain a mold-safe environment
