Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the health effects, risks, and routes of exposure associated with lead-based paint and lead dust.
- Interpret EPA and HUD regulations governing lead inspections, target housing, child-occupied facilities, and clearance activities.
- Identify building components and conditions where lead-based paint is commonly found.
- Perform full lead-based paint inspections, including XRF testing, sample collection, and visual assessments.
- Follow approved sampling protocols, chain-of-custody procedures, and proper documentation standards.
- Interpret laboratory results and inspection data to determine the presence and concentration of lead-based paint.
- Prepare compliant inspection reports for owners, agencies, and regulatory entities.
- Understand the steps required for state licensure, including application, fees, third-party examinations, and experience/education prerequisites.
