Microsoft Office 365 - Introduction

This beginner-friendly course provides an overview of four essential Microsoft Office 365 programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Through guided instruction and hands-on practice, students will learn the fundamentals of writing and formatting documents in Word, creating and analyzing spreadsheets in Excel, building engaging presentations in PowerPoint, and managing email and calendars in Outlook. Topics include navigating the ribbon, customizing documents and worksheets, and enhancing presentations with media. A brief skills assessment is provided at the end of each session to reinforce learning and track progress.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Navigate the Microsoft Office 365 interface and use basic features across Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Create, edit, and format professional documents in Microsoft Word, including the use of text formatting, images, tables, and layout tools.

  • Build and modify spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, basic formulas, charts, and formatting.

  • Design and deliver simple presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, incorporating text, images, transitions, and templates.

  • Use Microsoft Outlook to send and receive emails, manage contacts, organize appointments, and set calendar events.

  • Understand the purpose and use of the ribbon interface across Office programs.

  • Customize letters, worksheets, and slides to meet basic business and personal productivity needs.

  • Complete skill assessments to demonstrate mastery of each application’s foundational functions.

This is an 8 hour course, facilitated by a knowledgeable instructor in person to provide hands-on learning experiences and support in real time.

  • Basic computer literacy, including the ability to use a mouse, keyboard, and navigate desktop environments.

    • Willingness to participate in hands-on activities and complete in-class skill assessments.
