Thanks to the generous support of our community and Meijer, the IvyCares food pantry will be able to feed hungry student families in the Ivy Tech Indianapolis community as a result of the latest Meijer Simply Give hunger relief campaign.
IvyCares received a $780 donation from Meijer on Wednesday, Oct. 5, as a result of a campaign that ran through September 27. This contribution, which will provide 3,120 meals*, allows us to continue our mission of feeding student families facing food insecurity. Combined with a $2,500 donation Meijer made to Ivy Tech Indianapolis in September, the campus has received a total of $3,280 from the Midwest supercenter over the last few months.
We want to thank all of the shoppers at the Keystone Avenue Meijer location, our partners, and constituents for helping us spread the word about this fantastic program that will put food on the tables of our neighbors in need.
The Meijer Simply Give program is truly a blessing because, with each campaign, it feeds hungry families by replenishing the shelves of more than 270 food pantries in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Wisconsin. However, the program goes above and beyond simply writing a check. It fosters a sense of social responsibility by encouraging customers to grab a $10 Simply Give donation card, which is then converted into a Meijer food-only gift card and given to the local food pantry selected by the store.
IvyCares is truly grateful for this opportunity and hopes our partnership with Meijer will continue to thrive in the future.
*One meal equates to 25 cents. Meal calculation is based on the approximate average cost of a meal from select food pantry partners across the Meijer footprint.
