Koda the Bear Mascot Tryouts

Ivy Tech Indianapolis’ Student Life Office is looking for students to be a part of the Ivy Tech Indianapolis mascot team!

Koda the Bear mascot tryouts will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21 and Wednesday, November 22, in the Student Life Office in Illinois Fall Creek Center (IFC).

Koda plays a key role in helping create fun and meaningful experiences for our students, staff, and faculty. They help represent Ivy Tech Indianapolis at academic and social events at the downtown Indianapolis campus and its sites in Lawrence, Plainfield, and the International Marketplace on the city's northwest side. The schedule for mascot appearances varies Monday through Friday, with the occasional Saturday, and is split amongst the team members' availability. 

This voluntary Student Life position is open to all full-time students who maintain a 2.5 GPA. 

Mascot team qualifications include:

• Physically capable of performing required stunts and activities
• Ability to positively interact with students, staff, and faculty
• Responsible
• Spontaneous
• Self-discipline
• Flexibility

You can sign up for the mascot tryouts by visiting the Student Life office, where you will be placed on a list. 

Here is the scenario students auditioning will be prompted with:

You are entering the New Student Orientation and want the new students to get excited about their new journey! You will pump them up with SILENT encouragement – what does this look like to you? Koda never speaks, and the identity of the students playing the part of Koda must remain a secret.

Auditions are closed to the public and could be recorded for decision-making purposes.
