Ivy Tech to host Hospitality Showcase, culinary tasting event

Bloomington— Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington is celebrating its School of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management graduates on Wednesday, May 7 with a Hospitality Showcase fundraising event from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event will serve as the final project and will be held on campus in The Yellowwood restaurant and patio. Tickets are $50 per person.

Students cooked for The Yellowwood the past eight weeks with a focus on international cuisine. For their final project, each student will cook and serve a menu item of their choice to create the Hospitality Showcase menu.

Itinerary:

• 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Passed hors d'oeuvres, buffet, food stations, chef demos, dessert stations, cash beer/wine bar, mocktail bar
• 6:30 - 7:00 p.m. Graduate and student recognition ceremony on the patio
• 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. Buffet and self-serve food, beverages

Visitors will have a chance to tour Ivy Tech’s baking and culinary labs, along with chef demonstrations.

Proceeds go toward the Hospitality Foundation Fund to give students first-hand experiences in the local culinary and hospitality industry.

The Yellowwood at Ivy Tech Bloomington is a student-run café of the culinary arts and hospitality management program. Café operations are a collaboration between culinary, baking and pastry, and management classes.

Culinary and baking and pastry concentrations at Ivy Tech Bloomington are accredited by the American Culinary Federation (ACF).
