BLOOMINGTON – Michael Waterford, Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington’s employer liaison for microelectronics and Department of Defense was named a 4 Under 40 Award recipient by the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce. Waterford was recognized at the Chamber’s annual meeting on Sept. 26.

“Michael has been instrumental in advancing our regional ecosystem by fostering the growth of a robust talent pipeline,” Adam Gross, Vice Chancellor for Ivy+ Career Link said.

Through strategic collaborations with local employers and workforce partners, Waterford connects Ivy Tech Bloomington students and graduates with career opportunities. He spearheaded several innovative solutions in support of students and community partners, including:

  • Culinary Arts Internships with French Lick Resort
  • Information Technology Partnership with Warrant Technologies
  • Microelectronics Summer Camp with area workforce partners

“Michael’s influence on both the campus and community has been transformative,” Gross said. “His forward-thinking initiatives and dedicated efforts have set a precedent for how educational institutions can drive community and industry growth.”

Waterford joined the Ivy Tech Bloomington team in September 2021, bringing with him experience as the founder and CEO of a company specializing in adventure tourism. He has served a variety of community organizations, including the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation, volunteer service with film festivals locally and nationally, and with environmental organizations and boards.

The Chamber’s 4 Under 40 Award recognizes young professionals who make a significant impact within their organization through their leadership and work ethic, while also giving back to the community through civic involvement.
