Ivy Tech Community College’s Bloomington campus is hosting The Human Library Project on Tuesday, Nov. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Shreve Hall. The public is invited to attend to check out human “books” and have conversations. Individuals across stereotypical spectrums will serve as the books that visitors can check out to learn more about personal experiences.
Some books that will be available are Borderline Personality Disorder, Homeless Addict to Dean's List Mom, Transsexual Nonbinary Man, Atheist-Humanist, Disabled but Not Unable, and Naturalized Citizen. Other available books will be Wheelie Woman, Anxiety/Depression, Transgender Man, Transgender Woman, Parents of Foster and Adopted Children, Amputee, Queer Man Living with HIV and Substance Abuse Disorder, and Cancer Conqueror.
The Human Library Project is a worldwide movement, intended to challenge stereotypes and promote understanding through civil and open dialogue. Background information about the Human Library Project can be found online at humanlibrary.org.
