BLOOMINGTON – Erika Gilchrist, award-winning motivational speaker and author, will give the keynote address at Ivy Tech’s Diversity Speaker Series event, “Domestic Violence: from Surviving to Thriving,” on Thursday, April 11 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Shreve Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

Gilchrist, who creates a platform for women to share their domestic survival stories, will hear from panelists about their own survival experiences. An on-scene advocate will be present during the event to offer aid and information as needed.

Assaulted as a little girl, sleeping in a van as a young adult, and living in a women’s shelter, Gilchrist has earned the title of “The Unstoppable Woman.” As a published author of 11 books, she provides compelling, solutions-based content to empower women. She built her business from next to nothing to a successful practice, reaching more than 250,000 women in just five years. Gilchrist has mastered the art of turning hardship and adversity into a launching pad to professional growth.

“Domestic Violence: from Surviving to Thriving” is hosted by Ivy Tech’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee. More information at ivytech.edu/diversity.

Ivy Tech is located on the west side of Bloomington at 200 Daniels Way.
