INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College today announced that all 19 of its campuses have been awarded the inaugural Collegiate Purple Star of Indiana (CPSI) designation, a distinction recognizing Indiana postsecondary institutions that provide exceptional support to U.S. military-affiliated students.
The designation, awarded by the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE) and the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA), recognizes Ivy Tech’s commitment to the academic and career success of military-connected students — including veterans, active-duty service members and their families.
“Ivy Tech is honored to be recognized across all campuses for our deep commitment to those who have served,” said Dr. Marty Pollio, president, Ivy Tech Community College. “Our military-affiliated students bring discipline, leadership, and unique experiences to our classrooms and communities. This recognition affirms our dedication to creating a welcoming, supportive, and successful environment for them across the state.”
The CPSI designation is awarded across three tiers based on 37 rigorous criteria in eight key areas, including core institutional policies, admissions practices, financial and student support services, career development, and community engagement. Ivy Tech campuses were recognized at all three levels of achievement:
- Tier 1 (90% Achievement): Columbus, Indianapolis, Lafayette
- Tier 2 (80% Achievement): Anderson, Bloomington, Fort Wayne, Hamilton County, Kokomo, Lake County, Lawrenceburg, Madison, Marion, Muncie, Richmond, Sellersburg, Terre Haute, Valparaiso
- Tier 3 (70% Achievement): Evansville, South Bend
The Collegiate Purple Star of Indiana program was established with the passage of Senate Enrolled Act 384-2023. Designations are valid for three years and signal to prospective students and families an institution’s readiness to support their unique needs.
