Ivy Tech Terre Haute has officially launched its 2026 Summer Academies, welcoming local high school students to immersive career exploration experiences in healthcare and information technology (IT). This summer marks the second year of the Healthcare Academy and the inaugural year of the IT Academy, providing students with the opportunity to earn college credit, gain hands-on experience, and explore high-demand career pathways.

The free academies are designed for current high school students or recent graduates who are interested in pursuing careers in two of Indiana’s fastest-growing industries. Throughout the eight-week programs, students will participate in college-level coursework, career exploration activities, career coaching, and experiential learning opportunities that connect classroom instruction to real-world careers.

“The Healthcare Academy gives students an opportunity to explore healthcare careers while gaining valuable experience and college credit,” said Tracy Blanc, Dean of the School of Health Sciences and School of Public Affairs and Social Services. “By exposing students to a variety of healthcare careers early on, we can help them discover their interests, build confidence, and make informed decisions about their educational and career goals.”

“We are excited to launch the IT Academy and provide students with an engaging introduction to the world of technology,” said Cary King, Director of Career Coaching. “This academy allows students to explore potential career paths, develop new skills, and gain valuable college experience while still in high school.”

As Indiana’s community college, Ivy Tech plays a vital role in creating opportunities for students across West Central Indiana. Through programs like our Summer Academies, the College creates opportunities for students to explore careers, earn college credit, and prepare for future success.
