Ivy Tech 3rd Annual Bingo Benefit Raises $10,000 for Strategic Plan Initiatives

TERRE HAUTE – Ivy Tech Community College hosted its third annual Bingo Benefit on Saturday, July 15, raising an estimated $10,000 to advance Ivy Tech’s strategic plan initiatives and continue to support the Deanna King Endowed Scholarship.

The event welcomed more than 200 guests to Ivy Tech Terre Haute’s campus for 20 rounds of bingo. The winner of each round received one of 20 designer Coach-brand purses.

The bingo event was created in 2019 by Deanna King, Ph.D., who serves as Ivy Tech Terre Haute’s vice chancellor of academic affairs. Since its inception, the event has raised funds to support various causes, including the creation of the Deanna King Endowed Scholarship which assists female students as they prepare to launch their careers.

“It has been incredible to see the growth and the impact of the bingo benefit over the years,” said King. “This event has provided critical support to our students, enabling them to achieve their academic and career goals. The increased attendance numbers and funds raised have made it possible for us to provide students with scholarships, resources, and opportunities.”

Ivy Tech’s strategic plan, titled Higher Education at the Speed of Life, aims to keep pace with the demands of our lives and communities, with a vision of Ivy Tech students earning 50,000 high-quality credentials statewide each year that align with Indiana’s needs.

The four goals of the plan are teaching and learning, workforce and careers, student experience, and operational excellence.

“I am thrilled to see the incredible support and enthusiasm from participants at the Bingo Benefit. This event provides a unique opportunity for attendees to actively engage with Ivy Tech's strategic plan by selecting a priority area for their contributions,” said Chancellor Lea Anne Crooks, Ph.D. “It is reassuring to witness the alignment between our community's passions and the strategic plan of Ivy Tech Community College.”

Many community partners supported the event, including Valley Professional Community Health Center, Old National Bank, Prospect Bank, and the Rural Health Innovation Collaborative (RHIC).
